Movies You Should Watch 3: "My Name is Love" movie review

Hi pals, i am back, this time with a review on thai romantic comedy "My Name is Love" released in 2012 starring Arak as Q and Pong pitch as his friend Joe. Have you ever had a friend in school whom you teased badly, who now turned out to be a beautiful girl and more worse you fell for her now. "My Name is love" is one such kind of story with unusually positive embarrassing and funny elements involved blissfully enough to make it no more 'yet another love story'.

The movie opens with Q narrating his high school days, enjoying fame among young as a music band lead, filled with pride and stupidity. He with Joe embarrasses a rather geeky 'Big' when he pleads him to take him into the band and teases badly a  fat girl 'Geur' when she proposes him causing Geur to declare that she will never love him again even if he proposes her naked. Next, the narration forwards to present day where it appears that Q became a big rock star but apparently he is  a salesman for a product "Big sucker". Remember the name 'Big' from somewhere? do you guess something!!! Yep! the company and the product belongs to 'Big' whom Q embarrassed badly due to which 'Big' left school, started his own business, invented 'Big Sucker' , employed Q, Joe and now back for revenge. Q as said now falls for his neighborhood girl 'Geur' , the same girl whom he teased but now a super gorgeous girl, the sweetheart of a reputed university. Q foils every relationship Geur tries to be in using his funny ideas which actually works.Till here the story is just entertaining enough  not to stop watching.

Here the director Wasin PokPong introduces a cute concept, well wounded with love and drama which makes this movie quiet interesting. It is Cupids! people who are responsible for making others fell in love with each other Do you know that Mark of facebook is also a cupid ?!. One fine night when  Q is busy drooling over the facebook pics of Geur a popup comes on his screen about a website named "My name is love". Unable to close it Q registers which makes him a cupid now. Messed enough to mend his love story, now he has to make other people fall in love, In this course of becoming a cupid  he meets Tom an elder cupid and Ood the top ranked cupid, who helps him become a better cupid.Do you find the story boring! you want a twist, you will have more than one from now and i am not going to reveal and spoil them.Being cupid is a responsibility and with responsibility comes sacrifice which Q has to decide on .The remaining movie is about Q having  to chose between his love and responsibility which he starts kinda liking, become a successful cupid and even more, become a better man and also face the wrath of ‘Big’.

The funny situations, hilarious arguments and demeaning conversations between Q,Geur and Joe makes this movie a quite amusing rom-com. Arak and Pong played their characters absurdly as they should be, transforming  a rather grownup movie to an enjoyable teenage romance.Their appearances and characters are weird enough to attract your attention from the story line but compelling enough to be more than good. Thunasupang has portrayed her less dialogue character 'Geur'  interestingly with her good looks. The director handled the script so well that the viewer can lean back and watch  lazily enough to enjoy it although appeared in slow pace sometimes with it’s 1.5 hours length. Although in some scenes, the movie lagged sense they are replaced  with adverse satires of life. As a whole "My name is Love" is a strange stylish love story which you can watch on a chilling night after an exhaustive day, pulling your blanket over you, laughing till your cheeks hurt. The movie can be watched on youtube, with very good subtitles which can make you feel like you're watching a direct English movie.

Disclaimer: The movie contains content which some may find embarrassing and abusive, but the content is so little and is not so bad.

"Before Sunset" movie Review

                                                  Before Sunset
“Before sunrise” is  a romantic drama movie released in 1995 starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Deply. It depicts the story of two young people Jesse an American and Celine a young French woman, who meets on a train journey in Vienna and spend a night together through city knowing each other. “Before Sunset” came as a sequel to “Before Sunrise” It starts nine years after the events of the first film. Jesse, now a published author is on book tour visiting countries promoting his novel. As part of this he visits Paris and attends a book reading event in a book store where he meets Celine now an independent woman. The story then moves on to their conversation about their present lives and the experience they had in Vienna.

Ethan and Julie will not let you move your eyes away from the screen with their expressive talk roaming through exquisite alleys of Paris.Director Richard Linklater who had directed the previous film too, had managed to carry the same romantic feeling throughout the movie. The screenplay of the movie was way past the conventional ones. The simple idea of having a conversation while walking through the streets of Paris along the coffee houses and boat rides is positively eccentric. The cinematographer had made a quiet compelling work in capturing the natural feel of the locations although few .

The screen writers had shown a great interest in expressing the relationship issues of married and unmarried ones through a romantic talk.Although film don’t give a concrete answer to those issues it will give you a feeling that we detach from our true desires and live a false life, passing days hoping for something else than what we have.

Nothing concrete “Before Sunset” takes you through a roller-coaster ride of human emotions and feelings which hide behind tight lips, dry eyes and a smiling face. Like  a well served coffee this movie gives you the taste of sour and sweet lives of commonly uncommon people around us.http://mourparadise.blogspot.in/2015/11/before-sunset-movie-review.html

"Magic in the moonlight" movie review

Magic in the moonlight

Hi friends, last night I have seen this movie "Magic in the moonlight" and thought of writing a review on it."Magic in the Moonlight" stars Colin firth and Emma stone  in lead roles. Directed by Woody Allen in a classic 20th century setting, the movie deals with the romantic encounters between a young spirit medium named Sophie baker and a famous illusionist Stanley who tries to debunk her spirituality as fake.

The movie starts with Stanley performing an illusion in a theater in Berlin as a stubborn and a bit egoistic character. The film ends with him being less egoistic but with new found love for life and living. After a spell bounding performance in "Kingsmen: The secret service", Colin firth lives in the role as a proud illusionist who prefers solitude over fame and rational thinking over spirituality. He takes us through a series of emotional thoughts which question his rationality and even tricks us to believe what he believe. Emmastone well known for her cute girlfriend role in "Amazing Spiderman" had done a remarkable role as a young medium, causing an instant infatuation not only to the protagonist but also to us all. Her acting draws at most attention and even dominates Colin firth during some scenes with her sharp wits and expressions.

The film contains an unusual bliss in it and gives the feeling of happily wandering in French country side mostly due to scenic beauty of the natural locations shown in the film. The cinematographer has made a quiet compelling work in presenting the already beautiful locations even more appealing. Coming to the direction Woody Allen even at the age of 78 has created quite a masterpiece although lagging a bit in explaining about the main protagonist, dry plot and keeping the audience interested in one or two scenes. The soundtrack was very appealing sometimes though a bit repetitive, the movie would have been even more entertaining if there was a modern soundtrack in place. Overall the film was like going on a tour to French Riviera aka beautiful French resorts of early 20th century to discover truth of spirituality and love. Scenes with picturesque sceneries of nature , exotic cars, mild humor and a beautiful actress "Magic in the Moonlight" gives you the feeling of walking in a beach during sunset.
